An MSc Mathematics graduate has joined Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme (MGNREGA) and works in Anjinapura village of Holalkere taluk in Davanagere.
Deepashri, the holder of an MSc degree in mathematics from Davanagere University is now employed under the MGNREGA scheme for a livelihood. She is helping her parents in their work. The issue came to light when Rural Development and Panchayat Raj minister KS Eshwarappa visited the village to review the MGNREGA works.
Shocked by her qualification, Eshwarappa asked Davanagere ZP CEO Yogesh to get her details and send them to him and he would do the needful to find her a job appropriate to her qualification.
It may also be recalled that earlier a few M.Com graduates had joined MGNREGA works in T Narasipura of Mysuru when they lost their jobs due to the lockdown.
