Davanagere: Believe it or not, a statue of Virgin Mary at the Shrine of Our Lady of Health Church in Harihara, Davanagere district appeared to be shedding tears. Several devotees from the district thronged to the church to witness the “miraculous” tears.

It is gathered that a devotee of the church while offering prayers noticed tears flowing from the left eye of the idol. Immediately, he brought this anomaly to the notice of church authorities.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, the rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Health Fr. Antony Peter said, “A devotee noticed teardrops in the left eye of the statue and informed me. When I went there, even I could see the water drops on the eye. After offering prayers, I wiped the statue’s tears away. However, within no time a new one appeared but now it has stopped.”

“We feel that it is also an indication of the motherly heart against the natural disaster. The message that human beings should go in a right path,” he added.

Fr. Antony Peter also informed that the church had organised a confession programme on Sunday, September 2.
