Bengaluru: A window of hope is likely to open for the serving IAS officers demanding the CBI enquiry in chorus, into the death of their IAS colleague D K Ravi.

Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka (Forest, Ecology and Environment Department), Madan Gopal M informed Newskarnataka.com, that the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had suggested to the Chief Minister of Karnataka to handover the case to the CBI. This fresh development seems to have elated IAS officers. Madan Gopal of IAS batch 1984 has been at the forefront of the call to the government of Karnataka to pass on the case to the central agency.

“After Rajnath Singh advised CM Siddaramaiah we are hopeful and a bit relieved owing to the fact that the case could be given to the CBI.” Besides, he condemned efforts to demean the character of upright IAS officer by a few vested interests. “Why these people are harping on personal issues now? Where were they when he was alive and practicing transparent bureaucratic discourse.” He questioned.

In addition to this he observed that CID investigation would not accommodate the wish of the family and the general public. In order to unearth the truth, the CBI has to inquire into the matter. It could also be recalled that many IAS officers including Harsha Gupta and Pankaj Kumar Pandey are vociferous in their voice for a CBI enquiry.

Madan further opined that political motives and interventions in such cases were objectionable. He hinted most of the political parties are equivalent in failing the honesty of stringent officers. He reiterated no matter what was the cause for his death- the truth has to surface. The online IAS officers’ signature campaign has received staggering response. A petition titled ‘Make CBI probe on mysterious death of IAS officer D K Ravi’ has garnered over 1.60 lakh signatures and is still counting, Gopal conveyed.
