Bengaluru: Paranoid over losing their newly built house, a couple committed suicide on Monday morning in the city.

The deceased are identified as Veeraswamy and Mary, residents of BTM Layout 2nd stage.

According to the police, the couple took the extreme step after receiving demolition notice of their newly built house from the BDA officials.

Deterred by the notice, the couple committed suicide by consuming poison, police said.

After coming to know about the incident, the couple was shifted to a nearby hospital by neighbours where they breathed last, police sources said.
