Bengaluru: With the Covid-19 patients count crossing 22,000 in the city, the number of active containment zones also swelled.

As on Thursday morning this number was 7,053 across the city.

A total of 2,498 containment zones were created in Bengaluru south zone, which is highest in the city. As many as 1,427 containment zones have been notified in Bengaluru east zone.

“The number of containment zones are expected to increase further in coming days with the city witnessing a huge surge in the number of Covid 19 cases,” explained an officer from the BBMP.

Meanwhile, allegations that rules are not followed in containment zones is pouring in. “Over 1.51 lakh people in the city were warned for not adhering to the home quarantine rules,” explained BBMP sources.
