
Mangaluru: Properties and cash worth of Rs 1,07,10,000 in Dakshina Kannada district have been seized for the violation of poll code of conduct as on April 4.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil told reporters here on Monday, April 8 that a total of 461 Excise law violation cases and three cases pertaining to election expenditure had been registered so far. Three each motorcycles, lorries, cars, one each truck and tanker and 1907 pamphlets have been seized. A total of 84,181.02 litre liquor worth of Rs 93,92,437 also has been recovered”, he informed.
Sasikanth informed that a total of 32 complaints had been received on the ‘cVigil’ app in which 24 cases were found to be valid and 8 dropped.
Meanwhile, Senthil also spoke about the SVEEP Committee in creating on voting awareness. There was good response for the ‘human chain’ from educational institutions, fisher community and other organisations. “All measures will be taken to conduct peaceful voting and officials who participate in election work were received first phase of training also”, he informed.
Voter slip and ration card will not be considered this time
Senthil informed that voter slips and ration cards will not be considered as a proof to cast votes this time. The other 11 documents like PAN card, Aadhar card, identity cards with photo issued in the workplace, savings bank passbook (with photo) of post office or banks among others will be considered as valid proofs this time”, he said.
Later, a demonstration on the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) system attached to the EVM was held.
