Bengaluru: “The country was safe under Congress rule for 70 years. Instead of telling the people what you have achieved in your five-year term, you are asking for votes in the name of religion and caste. Is this right?”, Dinesh Gundu Rao questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party after a road show, which was held to campaign for Congress candidate B K Hariprasad, who will be contesting from Bengaluru South in the Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking after the road show in Padmanabhanagar, Gundu Rao said “The Congress party has undertaken a lot of developmental works in Bengaluru since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. Public enterprises like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) were started here. The Congress party has played an important role in the development of Bengaluru. Congress candidate Hariprasad is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru South. Congress candidates are sure to win from all the three constituencies of Bengaluru.”
“Congress has never tried to divide people based on religion and caste. Narendra Modi never speaks about his government’s achievements in the past five years. Instead, he is asking for votes based on religion and caste. Was the country not safe for 70 years? BJP is trying to divide the nation. They are trying to promote Pakistan in all their speeches as if the elections are in Pakistan and not India,” added Gundu Rao.
B K Hariprasad said that people should support Congress for the development of the country and the state. “Congress party is getting good support from the people all over the country and they will vote based on the developmental works of Congress,” he added.
Congress leaders and members offered a special pooja in Banashankari temple before staring the road show.
