Bengaluru: Believe it or not, the diamond studded Hublot is still haunting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

After strongly vouching for the Anti-Corruption Bureau, now the CM finds that probe to find the truth behind his ‘Hublot’ is the first case to be filed with the ACB, barely 20 days after its constitution!

On Saturday, city advocate S Nataraj Sharma filed a complaint with B S Abdul Khader, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB, Bengaluru City, under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Sharma claimed that he and another advocate NP Amrutesh had to visit two police stations, the ADGP-ACB office in Khanija Bhavan and the DG&IGP office before a complaint could be filed.

While CM had claimed that the Hublot was a gift given to him by his NRI doctor friend Dr Girish Chandra Varma, Sharma has sought a probe to find whether the Rs 70 lakh Hublot was in reality a gift to the CM or not.

Sharma has contended that not only did the CM give contradicting statements in this regard, but has not produced any original bills of the watch to prove that it was purchased by his friend. Further there are questions being raised if the watch had gone through all the foreign regulation procedures like customs, FERA and others.

As per ACB rules, the police have 15 days to verify the complaint before filing an FIR against the CM.
