Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, on Wednesday escaped from gun scare when bullets from his gunman’s pistol spilled onto the road when the latter was trying to keep surging mob at bay.
It is reported that the incident occurred when the CM was walking towards his car after laying the foundation stone for a girls hostel at Hazrat Hameed Shah complex in Cubbonpet in the city.
It is reported that the pistol fell off from the gunman’s holster and due to the impact, the magazine came off the pistol spilling bullets all around when he was trying to push party workers and several onlookers, who approached Siddharamaiah’s car.
It is said that an internal enquiry has been ordered into the incident and the magazine is said to have contained 30 bullets.
Previous incidents: It may be recalled that former Minister C.C. Patil was injured when his gunman accidentally opened fire while trying to disperse a crowd in Gadag District in 2013.
It may also be recalled that Siddharamaiah had to cancel his flight to Mysuru on Jan.10 as a smoke was detected from his chopper at HAL Airport just before taking off and was forced to travel to Mysuru by road resulting in a four-hour delay in his arrival in Mysuru.
