Bangalore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who has condoled the death of Rashtrakavi Dr GS Shivarudrappa has said the entire state is in grief over the demise of the towering litterateur.
Shivarudrappa who earned the honour of Rashtrakavi after Manjeshwar Govind Pai and Kuvempu, was a great writer and researcher who began his career as a lecturer in Mysore Maharaja College.
He has authored over 15 collection of poems, over 12 research works and four travelogues.
Praying for the soul of Dr GS Shivarudrappa to rest in peace, the Chief Minister also prayed the Almighty to give the strength to the poet’s family to bear with the loss.
The state is observing a two day mourning on Monday and Tuesday. All schools, colleges and government officers are closed today as a mark of respect to the departed Rashtrakavi.
His last rites will be held with full state honours, the CM informed.
