Bengaluru: BJP leaders from Karnataka including State president B.S. Yeddyurappa and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar and senior leader DV Sadananda Gowda were among the key guests who attended the wedding eve function of Brahmani, daughter of mining baron and former Karnataka Minister G. Janardhan Reddy at the Palace Grounds on Tuesday.

Bigwigs from BJP attended the function after having raised talk that they would stay away. Congress sources claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwara will not attend the wedding, while former Minister M.H. Ambareesh and actor Yash attended the function on Tuesday.

The pre-nuptial bash at the Palace Grounds had huge sets capturing the grandeur of the Vijayanagar Empire competed for attention with the recreated rusticity of a village, just as samba dancers from Brazil jostled with Kathakali artistes from Kerala. The celebrations started Tuesday night with a procession of dancers from India and abroad and foreigners in traditional attire welcoming guests. Stars and singers like Yash, Arun Sagar, Anushree, Haripriya, Shankar-Mahadevan, K S Chitra and Vijay Prakash entertained the audience.

The police said they had not made special security or traffic arrangements for the wedding since it was a private ceremony. The Reddy family sources said around 3,000 private security people were in place. They claimed that many “senior political leaders” would attend the main event on Wednesday.
