Bangalore:The state pollution control Board chairman Dr Vaman Acharya urged the people to celebrate the Deepavali with less noise pollution.
The firecrackers when bust releases poisonous gases that induce asthma and other lungs ailments.There lies the threat of losing eyesight and hearing ability.Its chiefly causing fear among the little children, pregnant women and elderly with consequences on their health. The people suffering from high blood pressure,asthma and heart diseases suffer the most from firecrackers, Acharya express deep concern.
Several children, youngsters and elders lost eyesight when the firecrackers bust either in their hands or in close vicinity, added Acharya. He also cautioned the people,that high decibel of noise can affect hearing and heart because the noise pollution exceeds to 140 decibels that humans can bear up to 85 decibels only, added Acharya.
Acharya further said that no bursting of firecrackers is allowed from 10.00pm to 6.00pm.The Deepavali celebration has to be eco-friendly and advised to light the traditional lamps using castor oil, advised Acharya.
Acharya had sent the letters to Deputy Commissioners of all districts in order to mandatorily follow the instructions issued by union ministry of environment and to create awareness among the school children on the effects of bursting firecrackers.
