Bengaluru: The CCB police arrested a Udupi resident for allegedly keeping 28 girls from North India, under illegal confinement in the name of getting a good job. Police suspect a bigger mafia behind this incident.
According to the CCB police, their intelligence wing had recently alerted that 28 women have been kept under illegal confinement in RR Nagar under the Jana Bharati police limits.
When the police raided the house, they found that the girls were all from North India and had been kept under seize. Women constables were rushed to the house and all the women were rescued.
“At the time of inquiry, these girls informed that a person named Praveen Shetty brought them from various states of North India, promising them to find a good job. However, against their wish, they were sent to bars to work as bar girls,” said police.
“Based on the information shared by the girls, Praveen Shetty has been arrested. An investigation has been launched to find out the other people behind this racket,” said an officer.
