Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which probed into the death of IAS officer D K Ravi has concluded that the officer committed suicide due to personal reasons.
CBI team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Chakravarthy will be submitting the final report to the assistant commissioner. CBI has already sought an appointment with the assistant commissioner of south Bengaluru.
It may be recalled that D K Ravi (34), a popular IAS officer of Karnataka origin who was working as additional commissioner of Commercial Tax in Bengaluru, was found hanging at his official residence on March 16, 2014.
The CBI was entrusted with the investigation on March 23 by the state government amid allegations that the officer was murdered for adverse stances he took against realtors and the sand mafia — as a commercial tax officer and earlier as deputy commissioner of Kolar district.
Reacting on the report at her residence, D K Ravi’s Mother Gowramma insisted that her son was murdered and could not have committed suicide. Hanumatharayappa, D K Ravi’s father-in-law said he was taken aback by the report.
The CBI also probed his professional and personal lives for evidence that could suggest involvement of any form of coercion leading to his death.
The state government after drawing a lot of flak from people and opposition had finally handed over the case to CBI.
