Bengaluru: One person has been arrested in connection with alleged kidnapping of a northeastern girl in Bengaluru.
Akshay(24), a cab driver is the accused.
The incident took place on April 23 when the girl, a native of Manipur and a student of city based pharmacy college was allegedly dragged into a under construction building by miscreants in public view. According to the victim, the abductor attempted to rape her but she somehow managed to escape.
“Bystanders watch while I cried for help. None of them tried to rescue me from the abductor. I started shouting and he tried to shut my mouth. I bit him to save myself. I fell unconscious after he repeatedly punched me. My friend did not hear me screaming as they were watching TV”, she said.
To her dismay, Chennammanakere police refused to file an FIR based on her complaint. Soon after the media exposed the incident, bowing down to the pressure finally the case was registered on Monday, May 2.
The CCTV footage flashed by channels showed a lone woman standing on the street and a man grabbing by her waist and forcefully taking her away.
