Bengaluru: As many as 389 apartments in the city have received a notice from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for releasing untreated sewage water directly into the stormwater drains (SWD), also known as Rajakaluves.
According to sources, another 100 apartments/building owners are expected to get a notice from the BWSSB in a week’s time.
The notices are being issued in accordance with the NGT directions and copies of the same have been sent to the state pollution board. These apartments have been asked to construct their own Sewage Treatment Plants and recycle the water.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had directed the BWSSB, BBMP and state pollution control board to ensure that rainwater is not mixed with sewage water. The NGT had also directed all the civic agencies to take up works in a time-bound manner.
