Bengaluru: It seems like the party’s humiliating defeat in the Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-election has affected the confidence of BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa who wanted to run a one man’s show in the 2018 state Assembly election.
According to the highly placed sources, Yeddyurappa had sent feelers to the dissident leaders within the party state unit led by former DyCM K S Eshwarappa. On Saturday, BSY withdrew the show cause notice issued to former minister Sogadu Shivanna and party organising secretary M B Nandish, both leaders from Tumakuru, which was one of the demands of the party rebels.
According to sources, next week, the party national leaders are expected to hold discussions with the state unit leaders regarding preparations for the 2018 general elections and results of the recently held by-election. “To ensure that the party state leaders will not raise voice against his leadership, he is now opting to take all along with him,” said a party state unit office bearer.
