Bengaluru: Even though Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had assured to put an end to unnecessary government expenditure and divert the funds to drought and flood relief, his decision to hold a meeting of state MPs at a five-star hotel in New Delhi on Tuesday has led to a controversy.

According to government sources, generally, all the meetings are conducted at the Karnataka Bhavana. But this time, the meeting has been convened at a private five-star hotel. “Lunch costs around Rs 4,000 here. As many as 200 persons including the CM, his officers, MPs and others are expected to participate in the meeting,” they explained.

The CM’s decision didn’t go down well with the opposition MPs. JDS MP Prajwal Revanna urged the CM to cancel the meeting stating that it is unfair to spend money on the meetings when the state is reeling under drought and flood-like conditions.
