Bengaluru: A first-year BSc agriculture student committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train. His parents have alleged that he was driven to suicide due to ragging.

The deceased has been identified as Gagan (18), a resident of Gauribidanur.

According to family members who lodged a complaint with the Amruthahalli police, Gagan was studying at a private college in Yalahanka and used to stay on the college campus.

“The senior students were ragging him. We had approached the college management in this regard but they did very little,” alleged Gagan’s parents.

Meanwhile, police visited the college and sought all the related documents (including CCTV footage) as part of the investigation.

The incident has triggered the fear of ragging in the college. According to students, ragging at the college has recently increased by several folds compared to the previous years.
