Boy falls into drain, dies

Bengaluru: A seven-year-old boy died after falling into a storm water drain at Nagadevanahalli in Ullal under Kengeri police station limits on Wednesday evening. His body was found after over three hours.

The police have identified the deceased as Rakesh, a 1st standard student and the son of construction workers. The police said parents of the boy were at work and he was playing nearby when the accident occurred.

It was said that boy was last seen by his parents around 5 p.m. Unable to find him, the parents informed the police and the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services. After searching the locality for over three hours, they found the body in the storm water drain. The body was sent to a private hospital in Kengeri for post-mortem. A case has been registered.

BBMP Mayor G. Padmavathi visited the hospital and announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh and a slum board house for the parents.
