Bengaluru: A BMTC bus driver and conductor rescued a police constable who was injured in an alleged hit-and-run case.

The accident took place on Friday, December 28, near Hydala village towards Neramangala. Police constable, Siddaraju, 36, sustained a head injury after he fell off his bike. Although he called for help, none of the bystanders came forward, until the bus driver and conductor stepped in.

Several passers-by crossed the accident spot, with many even taking videos and photos of the incident, but none came to Siddaraju’s aid until Gangadhar and Srinivas showed up.

The driver, Gangadhar YN, noticed that a small crowd had gathered at a spot and slowed down the bus to notice that a man had been severely injured and was lying in a pool of blood. He stopped the bus and along with the conductor, Srinivas, rushed the constable to a hospital. The duo initially contacted an ambulance, but took matters into their own hands after the ambulance did not show up.

Siddaraju was riding home when he was hit by an unknown vehicle. It was reported that he was not wearing a helmet during the time and hence sustained a severe head injury.

Police officers have commended the driver and conductor for rescuing the constable and admitting him to a hospital.
