Bangalore: Apprehensive about the series of holidays during the Lok Sabha poll on April 17, the Karnataka BJP unit asked the Election Commission to postpone the election on Monday March 10.
Addressing the media, BJP leader Suresh Kumar said that the Karnataka BJP unit stated that these holidays may hamper the voting percentage thus postponment of the poll from April 17 to April 22 or April 23 will be appropriate
He also informed that the party has submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Election Commission, to state Chief Electoral officer Anil Kumar Jha, hoping that the postponement will increase the voting percentage in the state.
Further Kumar explained that the series of holidays in the poll week may encourage employees and others to hit holiday destinations forcing them to abstain from voting.
