Bengaluru: The BJP, which was trying to woo coalition party MLAs as part of the Operation Kamala decided against fielding any candidates in the October 4 state legislative council by-election.

September 24 was the last date for filing nomination papers. But fearing a loss, the BJP decided against fielding any candidate.

This means, two Congress candidates and another JDS candidate will get selected unanimously for the council.

If sources in the BJP are to be believed, CM HD Kumaraswamy had allegedly struck a deal with eight BJP MLAs for cross-voting in the event of any election. Fearing that it may further humiliate the party, it was decided to not field any candidate.
