Bengaluru: The ongoing investigation into the KG Halli/ DG Halli riot which claimed four lives last Tuesday night is likely to create an embarrassment to the Congress state unit as it is now being suspected that it was not a communal riot but created by Congress local leaders to get a ticket for Pulakeshinagar assembly segment in 2023 election.

Pulakeshinagar is an SC reserved assembly constituency.

According to the sources in the CCB, the police arrested Arun Raj, a close associate of the former mayor, Congress leader Sampath Raj.

Sampath Raj is the hardcore supporter of KPCC president DK Shivkumar. While the local Congress MLA Akhanda Murthy is a Siddaramaiah supporter. Sampath Raj was a ticket aspirant for the 2023 assembly election.

According to sources, the CCB police technical team seized laptops and mobile phones of Arun Raj. Earlier, CCB had grilled Sampath Raj also.
