Bengaluru South special tahsildar caught for demanding bribe

Bengaluru: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday, booked special tahsildar of Bengaluru South for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh.

The ACB officials caught Madhu, a middleman, red-handed while taking Rs 5 lakh from the complainant on behalf of Special Tahsildar Venkatachalapathy.

According to an official release, Venkatachalapathy had demanded Rs 15 lakh from a resident of Hulimavu to resolve a land dispute with his family members.

Venkatachalapathy allegedly demanded the money to rule in his favour in the dispute.

Unable to pay the money, the complainant approached the ACB and filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and caught Madhu, who had come to collect the amount on behalf of Venkatachalapathy.

The ACB officials booked the duo under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
