Bengaluru: Barely after five days of disgraceful and shameful molestation incident reported at Kammanahalli, one more incident took place at 6.30 am on Friday in Kadugondanahalli police station limits, thus questioning the safety measures assured by Minister for Home Dr G Parameshwara and Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood.

It may be recalled that Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood, as soon as assuming office, assured the people of Bengaluru, especially children, women and senior citizens, to give top priority to their safety. On Thursday, Dr G Parameshwara was not only defended police but also declared Bengaluru as the safest city in the country. While Parameshwara had announced to install 550 CCTV cameras at various locations in the city, the Commissioner of Police had gone one step ahead by increasing the number of CCTV cameras to 579 within a few hours of Home Minister’s announcement. During the media briefing on police arresting four accused in Kammanahalli molestation case, the Commissioner of Police had blamed media for blowing the issue (the alleged molestation on Brigade Road) out of proportion.

The people of Bengaluru started believing both Home Minister and Commissioner of Police but within 13 hours of their assurance, one more shameful incident took place. According to the CCTV footage, a young girl, in burqa, was walking on the road. The culprit was seen waiting for her on the road. After seeing her coming, the culprit followed her and attempted to molest her. It was said that accused had bitten her tongue, on cheek and hand when she resisted.

According to the local people, the culprit ran away when a stray dog started barking. When the accused took to heels, the girl started shouting for help. After hearing her screams, local people gathered at the spot but could not catch the culprit.

According to the local TV channel, the relatives the victim approached a house-owner for the CCTV footage at 10.30 am. “Two women approached me and narrated the incident. They also explained what has happened to their girl. I obliged them and took a look at the CCTV footage. I found a stalker following the girl,’’ the woman said.
