Once celebrated for its perfect weather, Bengaluru now finds itself in the grip of an unexpected heatwave, leaving residents scrambling for relief in the form of air conditioning. The city, known for its naturally pleasant climate, has seen a dramatic shift, prompting locals to express their astonishment and frustration on social media platforms like ‘X’.
Long-time residents, who never imagined needing air conditioning in Bengaluru, now find themselves compelled to install it to combat the sweltering temperatures. Social media is flooded with complaints and disbelief, with one resident lamenting, “It’s as if I’m staying in Rajasthan,” while another admits, “Never imagined that I would install an AC in Bangalore, but here we are.”
Despite the frustration, Bengaluru’s trademark humor remains intact, with witty remarks circulating online. One commenter jokes about ego issues preventing the purchase of an AC, while others poke fun at the oversight of builders who neglected to include AC points in bedrooms, assuming the city’s weather would always remain pleasant.
However, beneath the humor lies a serious situation. Bengaluru is currently experiencing scorching temperatures, with Sunday marking the second-highest temperature ever recorded in the city at 38.5°C, just shy of the all-time record set in 2016.
The heatwave is not limited to Bengaluru alone but has engulfed much of Karnataka, with districts like Kalaburgi, Vijayapura, and Raichur also facing intense heat. Despite a slight dip in temperatures in some regions, the heatwave persists, posing challenges for residents across the state.
