Bengaluru: Even as nation came to standstill following a bandh, here in Garden City of Bengaluru, celebrations took off as crackers blew up in large numbers and jubilant crowd went into frenzied celebration mood.
The reason for the celebration was that Global Icon Jackie Chan was awarded honorary Oscar Award for his extraordinary achievement in films. As the news spread, his fans in Bengaluru came out on streets to celebrate the same and painted the city in bright colours of celebration.
It can be recalled that he starred many Indian actresses in his movies including Mallika Sharavat and others. Interestingly several movies have been made in his name across the world, including Kannada.
The actor will receive the award at the Academy’s Governors Awards on November a12. Chan, 62, has starred in dozens of martial arts films in his native Hong Kong, including Police Story, Armour of God and their various sequels.
He went on to have huge international success with hits like Rumble in the Bronx, animated film Kung Fu Panda and the Rush Hour franchise.
