Bengaluru: A Bengali and Kannada film festival has been jointly organised during the next fortnight by Karnataka Film (Chalanachithra) Academy and Indian Film Union Federation founded by renowned Bengali film director Satyajit Ray.
The film festival aims to share the rich culture of respective states and enthral film lovers from both sides. Bengali and Kannada films will be shown at Chamundeshwari Studio in Bengaluru between June 16-18 and Kannada films will be shown for 3 days from June 21-23 at renowned Nandan complex in Kolkata.
The film festival will be held in Bengaluru with the cooperation of Department of Information and Tourism and an organisation named Purple Heart, which will manage the 3-day festival. Renowned Bengali actress Madabhi Mukherji is likely to inaugurate the festival. Bratya Basu, minister in the Bengal government as well as actor, reputed directors Shekar Das, Satarupa Sanyal, Goutam Ghosh, Aniketh Chattopadhyay, Bauddhayan Mukherji will be present.
Kannada film directors Girish Kasaravalli, T S Nagabhrana, Director in the Department of Information N R Vishukumar and Kannada Film Academy President S V Rajendra Babu are likely to be present during the festival.
The inauguration ceremony will be held at 5 pm on June 16 at Chamundeshwari Studio.
Jogajog, a Bengali film directed by Director Shekar Das will be shown at the inaugural.
