Bengaluru: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities on Wednesday initiated action against many hotels, lodges and other commercial establishments in Gandhinagar area for keeping their premises unhygienic.
The Joint Commissioner (Health), along with Joint Commissioner (West), inspected Gandhinagar ward and found that some hotels had kept the premises unhygenic, some did not have trade licence and a few of them had encroached upon the footpath, sources said.
BBMP officials locked up eight hotels including Mahalakshmi Hotel, Hotel Piyusa, Kajal Bar and Restaurant, Gowda Military Hotel, Ganga Bar, Kanakadasa Fast Food, Sagar Veg and Non-veg and Balaji Bar and Restaurant.
The officials levied a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Chander’s petrol bunk for unscientific disposal of waste while Sea Birds Travels, VRL Travels, SRS Travels and Kamat Hotel were slapped with penalties of Rs 15,000 each. Adarsha Lodge, New Saraswathi Lodge, Durgamba and Mayura lodges were levied penalties of Rs 10,000 each.
