Bengaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta Court has remanded Krishna Murthy, a corporator, Arun Kumar, an assistant executive engineer, and Krishna, an assistant engineer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the civic body of Karnataka state capital, to judicial custody till April 13.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Friday arrested Krishna Murthy, Arun Kumar and Krishna on charges of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15 lakh from Dhananjay Naidu, a civil contractor.

“We have arrested the accused for accepting the bribe from a civil contractor and produced them before Lokayukta Court,’’ Girish S, Superintendent of Police, Anti Corruption Bureau, told IANS.

The ACB sleuths have arrested the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to ACB sources, Krishnamurthy, who got elected to BBMP Council from Rajinagar ward in Bengaluru west on Congress ticket, tried to drop the names of a few influential persons to stop the ACB police initiating action but in vain.
