The Annual Digital Skills Report FY24 from business solutions supplier Quess Corp has shown that, despite navigating global challenges, tech hiring in the country remains cautiously optimistic, underlining the resilience and development potential within India’s IT sector. In the near future, we see an increase in recruiting for IT positions driven by the growth of Global Capability Centers and the stabilization of the world economy.

Kapil Joshi, Deputy CEO of Quess IT Staffing, stated in a statement that “this growth will likely be driven by key technological advancements like big data and AI.” “Despite ongoing difficulties, India’s IT sector is well-positioned to manage these changes and come out stronger than before because of its people, innovation, and strategic vision combined.”

Manufacturing, Retail, and Healthcare Indicate Positive Trends in Tech Hiring The poll discovered a clear shift in the need for tech talent in 2024 across a number of businesses. Prominent patterns surfaced in sectors such as product development (6%), automotive (15%), finance (BFSI 19%), and consultancy (9%).

Quess reports that the top 5 skill suites—development, ERP, testing, design and engineering, and networking—accounted for 66% of the total demand. Apart from these functional skill sets, there was a notable increase in the need for expertise in the areas of analytics (256%), cloud (16%), and cybersecurity (215%) between H1FY24 and H2FY24.

While established heavyweights like the automotive and aerospace industries remained at the top, there was a notable shift in production toward newer sectors like semiconductors, electronics, and electrical industries. The industry’s adoption of technology innovations and emphasis on supply chain management and product development innovation are highlighted by this diversification.

Retail: In order to grow and improve the consumer experience, technology integration has become essential. The need for tech talent with expertise in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing has increased dramatically due to the growth of e-commerce platforms and omnichannel retailing.

Healthcare and Life Sciences: Electronic health records, telemedicine, and personalized treatment are some of the elements driving the digital revolution in these fields. The drive to optimize healthcare outcomes, improve patient care, and expedite administrative procedures is driving the demand for tech talent.

India’s tech sector is booming, and the South Region is becoming the clear leader in this regard. This region receives 68% of job requests, with the West (16%), North (8%), and East (2%), following suit. Bengaluru, the National Capital Region (NCR), and Hyderabad hold a dominant position in the commercial real estate industry, accounting for 65% of all office space leasing activity. This pattern points to a possible “back-to-office” phenomena, with tech companies accounting for 26% of the space used.

But the growing narrative goes beyond well-known centers. Cities in Tier-2 and Tier-3, such as Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Indore, are becoming more popular because of their potential for growth. This research, which focuses on the amount of demand in Quess IT Staffing in FY2024, is based on data from the company’s activities.
