Bangalore’s garbage woes would be solved in 5 months : CM

Bangalore : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured the State Legislative Council that a permanent solution would be found within the next five months to Bangalore’s garbage problem which has been making news of late.

Replying to a question from BJP’s Tara Anuradha during the question and answer hour,  the chief minister assured all co-operations on the part of the government towards the development of Bangalore city.

He said  talks have been held with the Mandur people who have been opposing dumping of garbage in their area, seeking five month’s time to settle the issue. They have agreed for the same and all out efforts would be made to find a solution to the problem during the period, the CM said.

Stating that there were several reasons for the aggravation of garbage problem, the CM said the failure to segregate dry and wet wastes too was one of the reasons. Already four waste treatment plants have been set up and six more are in the pipeline, he  said.

Siddaramaiah further said an officer named Darpan Jain has been deputed to BBMP to  find a permanent solution to the problem.

The CM further said 4000 metric tonnes of wastes are generated in the city every day and this is  transported to Mandur in 200 trucks every day. The government is aware of the problems of the people  of Mandur and is making all out efforts to solve the same. He further said government has already identified lands for garbage dumping in the vicinity of the city.
