Bengaluru: Well Yogi Adityanath is definitely creating ripples in the political circles be it the anti romeo squads or the crackdown on the illegal abattoirs in Uttar Pradesh. However, it now seems that a few states, taking a cue from him are likely to crackdown on illegal meat shops and slaughterhouses.
As per a media report, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued notices to approximately 250 illegal meat shops in the city and will soon be two squads to conduct surprise raids to shut the same.
According to the rules, for areas within Outer Ring Road, meat shops are allowed only if the road width is over 40 feet and for areas beyond ORR, the road width has to be at least 60 feet.
Also, there are two categories of licences:-
1 -For shops where fresh cut meat is sold
2 – Another for shops with cold storage facility
For these, the applicant has to get the consent of the owner of the building and neighbours.
