Bengaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is holding Janagraha event at National College grounds of the city today to pressurize the central government to promulgate an ordinance to allow the construction of Rama Mandir in the disputed site of Ayodhya.

According to the organizers, Pejawar seer Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri seer Swami Nirmalananda, and other pontiffs of various mutts are participating in the event. “Around one lakh people from across South Karnataka are participating in the event,” said organizers.

“Originally the event was scheduled on November 25, but it was postponed following the sad demise of actor, politician MH Ambareesh. This event is the part of the nation-wide event by the VHP to pressurise the central government,” they informed.

According to the city police, elaborate security arrangements are in place to avoid any untoward incidents. “Traffic diverted have been brought into place in many parts of South Bengaluru to ensure that the traffic will not be chocked. More than 5,000 vehicles are expected to ferry the audience,” said a police officer.
