Bengaluru: A surprise raid by the state commercial tax department officials led by BV Muralikrishna, joint commissioner, has revealed that several malls of the city are yet to start generating bills as per the provisions of the newly introduced Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Team visited several prominent city malls including Mantri mall in Malleshwaram. According to the officials, when they inspected the bills they found several discrepancies including not mentioning of state and central GST separately, no product information on the computerised bill etc. “We have directed all the sellers to follow the new act in true spirit and rectify the mistake,” said BV Muralikrishna.
According to the sources, commercial tax department vigilance team is expected to continue its raids for few more days with rampant complaints of fake bill generation by sellers.
