Bengaluru: A video, which had gone viral over the social media few months ago has resurfaced shortly after Uttara Kannada MP Anantkumar Hegde was sworn in as the Minster of State at the Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
The video in question shows an agitated Hegde assaulting the duty doctors, even slapping one at TSS hospital in Sirsi while his mother was undergoing treatment here. Reportedly, the doctors were not giving adequate attention to his mother, which infuriated the MP causing him to lose his temper. A case was registerd against Hegde at that time.
Meanwhile, this was not the only controversy courted by the five-time parliamentarian. He was charged with hurting religious sentiment after he commented, “As long as there is Islam in this world, there will be terrorism. Until and unless we root out Islam from this world, terrorism cannot be eradicated,” at a press conference last year.
The motive behind the move to promote the minister contrary to the names that were making the rounds can be to gain stronghold in the Uttara Kannada constituency which was once viewed as a BJP stronghold.
