Bengaluru: Remember Anupama Shenoy, former Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kudligi Sub-division in Ballari district who hit national headlines following her ‘revolt’ against the politicians and police system in the state. Her resignation to the police department in August 2016 created a lot of embarrassment to the state government which subsequently resulted in sacking of then labor minister PT Parameshwar Naik.

Following her interview to various national news channels/ media immediately after resigning, it was assumed that she may join a political party and could contest for state assembly elections in 2018. Her name again cropped up when a RTI activist from Ballary released a CD pertaining to Bagalkot MLA and then excise minister Mr. HY Meti. But for the reasons best known to her, Shenoy was not active on Facebook for more than four months.

But fast forward January 2017. On Saturday Shenoy, a native of Padubidri in South Canara district has made a strange announcement stating that she has applied to state government seeking withdrawal of her resignation letter.

In her Facebook page Shenoy announced that as per the suggestion of well-wishers she wanted to rejoin the state police force. “Over come your ego and rejoin the police department was their suggestion. Respecting their views I have sent an application for the state government in this regard,” she announced.

“Government work is god’s work. So like God’s puja it is taking long time. So I joined a project which is complete now,” she wrote on her FB page.
One may have to wait and watch if the courageous young officer will don the cap again.
