Bengaluru: N.R. Santosh, personal assistant of Bharatiya Janata Party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa, obtained anticipatory bail from a Sessions Court on Saturday. He was the prime suspect in an attempt to kidnap case. He was evading the police for almost a month.

According to the police, Santosh is the prime suspect in the case of attempt to kidnap Vinay Bidre, the personal assistant of Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa in May. A case was registered at Mahalakshmi Layout police station.

“We are yet to ascertain the bail conditions and take necessary action,” a senior police officer said, adding that Santosh is expected to appear before the police to regularise the bail.

The police have so far arrested a gang of six persons who confessed that they had attempted to kidnap Vinay on the behest of Santosh. In July, the police went to Yedyurappa’s house to search for Santosh.
