Bengaluru: Even as the Chief Minister maneuvers the difficulties cropping up, the All India Congress Committee has reportedly sought a report from the state with regard to death of two DySPs in the state under Congress regime.
DySP Kallappa Handibhag (L) and DySP Ganapathi

The death of Chikkamagaluru DySP Kallappa Handibhag and Mangaluru DySP M K Ganapathi had dented the image of the state to a very large extent and this can be a huge setback to the Congress which wants to retain power in the state in the looming Assembly polls.

Ganapathi, in specific had given a television interview naming Minister K J George and two senior police officials- Pronab Mohanthy and A M Prasad as the people responsible for his death.

Close on the heels of the incident, there were evident efforts being made at the government level to snub and shut the case calling Ganapathi a dejected police officer fighting depression.

But, the AICC which is already facing threats of losing ground in various strongholds of Congress has plunged into action and has sought a report from KPCC president and Home Minister Parameshwar in to both the cases.

With various organisation demanding action against K J George and the protests for the same only intensifying with each passing day, the AICC felt it was imperative to understand the situation.

But, many say that the AICC receiving an impartial report is rather vague because the Congress including the Home Minister has been trying to shield George.

While Handibhag committed suicide on July 5 in Belagavi after charges of abduction and extortion were leveled against him, Ganapathi ended life on July 7 in Madikeri hotel room after spelling out the names of the individuals responsible for his action in a TV interview.

The Congress government at the state is facing allegations of safeguarding the accused connected to death of three efficient officers of the state-Mallikarjuna Bhande, D K Ravi and Ganapathi.
