Bengaluru: AIADMK deputy general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran, on Wednesday, announced that the party would support Venkaiah Naidu in the election to the post of Vice-President of India.
Dinakaran was in Bengaluru to meet party leader Sasikala at Bangalore Central Jail, Parappana Agrahara. The meeting lasted for over an hour. Dhinakaran said that he had discussed the Vice-Presidential election with Sasikala and got her consent.
On merger with the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma), the faction led by former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Pannerselvam, he said, “Let them merge first. We will talk and tell you what my future course of action would be.” He plans to visit the party office soon after being barred from the premises for the last three months. “Nobody can stop me this time,” he said.
Dhinakaran, accompanied by five of his colleagues, announced that strengthening the party is the main agenda.
Replying to questions on Sasikala’s health, he said, “She is hale and hearty. We are going to file a case against former DIG (Prisons) D. Roopa for making allegations of corruption.”
Roopa had submitted a report alleging that money had exchanged hands to ensure that Sasikala was given special treatment.
