Bengaluru: A man who used to con gullible aspirants for seats for various colleges has been nabbed by Sadashivanagar police.
The arrested is Ajithesh Mandal, a native of Kolkata City of West Bengal.
Police have recovered Rs 5,50,000 cash and a mobile from the accused. He was running the business through an office space on new BEL road near Dollar Colony.
According to police, four members gang including a girl student of a nearby college were running this gray business since last year. The other three are absconding and man hunt for them is on.
The absconding are Pinki Pal Kailash Singh, Ravan Singh and Shiva.
The gang has so far conned many people and made away nearly Rs 20 lakh, police said.
Modus operandi
The gang used the girl member to trap the target. She used to befriend the target and introduce them to the other gang members, who would then con the target, eke out money and vanish from the scene.
The gang used to specifically target the parents of the medical or engineering seat aspirants, especially from Northern parts of India.
