Bangalore: In a tragic incident, an 8-year-old boy was killed when a wall collapsed  late night, due to relentless rain on Saturday October 25.

The deceased has been identified as Maroof (8), son of Babulal and Hasinabi. He is a resident of Iblur, near HSR Layout in the city.

Maroof was killed when a portion of a wall of a dilapidated building collapsed on the adjoining tin shed in which he was living with his parents, following the downpour.

It is learnt that Maroof’s parents were construction labourers and they too sustained injuries in the incident, according to the police.

City in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy visited the spot and announced a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the family.

Many roads were flooded in the city, as rain slashed the city until late night on Sunday October 26.

Sources said at least six tree falls were reported from Malleswaram, Jayanagar, Chamarajpet, Vijayanagar and Rajarajeshwarinagar. An electricity pole fell on a goods carrier in Javaregowdana Doddi in Rajarajeshwarinagar  and several other such incidents were reported due to the heavy rains.
