Bengaluru: At least 47 persons, mostly children sustained eye and burn injuries across the city on Sunday and Monday when bursting firecrackers.

According to the sources in the state-run Minto hospital where these injured are being treated, the number must be more as many opted to treat in the private hospitals.

According to the doctors, most of the injured are innocent children who were watching the firecracker bursting from a faraway place.

“Every year a lot of awareness is being created, but the number is increasing every year,” explained a doctor from another hospital which is specialised for eye treatment.
