Bengaluru: With the idea of putting an end to the menaces like throwing garbage into the lakes, lake encroachment and the release of untreated water into the lakes, the BBMP has decided to cover 205 lakes with the CCTV surveillance.
According to Mohan Krishna, Chief Engineer (Lake), BBMP, tenders for the new project will be floated in the next 15 days.
“We are working on the technical formalities. Once we finalise the modality of CCTV surveillance, the tenders will be floated and works will be taken up,” he said.
According to the BBMP sources, the decision to install CCTVs was taken after the recent incident of lake bund breach reported from the three lakes causing a huge loss. As there was no proof against the miscreants, the BBMP was not able to initiate any action against them.
