11,000 houses to be built to solve police housing problems: HM

Bengaluru: Taking serious note of the severe housing problem of the police personnel, the state government has decided to construct 11,000 houses for constables and sub-inspectors.

Compensation to martyrs kin to be reviewed: Home Minister-1Home Minister G Parameshwar has said that proposal for a  Rs 1,000 crore project has been sent to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He said that while the Home Ministry is expecting a positive response, it was as of now enough if the government provided grants of  Rs 500 cr and provides guarantee to raise loans up to Rs 500 crore for the project.

The State police force, which has a sanctioned strength of 1 lakh personnel, is yet to attain its full strength. About 25,000 posts are yet to be filled. About 3,000 to 4,000 personnel retire from service every year. The process to recruit about 8,000 constables is on and will be completed soon, Parameshwara said.
