Belagavi: In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman was subjected to a harrowing ordeal. She was garlanded with sandals, verbally abused, and paraded through Mrityunjaya Circle in Ghataprabha town, Gokak taluk, Belagavi district. This occurred after she was accused of luring young men and extorting money from them.

On that fateful night, neighbors, both women and men, visited Sridevi’s home to confront her regarding these allegations. In response, Sridevi reportedly used derogatory language against the women. An angry mob subsequently removed her from her residence, subjected her to abuse, garlanded her with sandals, and paraded her through the town.

Sridevi has made a serious accusation, claiming that a Dalit organization demanded a substantial sum of Rs. 5 lakh from her and threatened dire consequences if she didn’t comply. The group reiterated their demand for money and subjected her to a traumatic experience, including physical assault. According to Sridevi, she was also stripped and sexually assaulted. To further humiliate her, the assailants paraded her with garlands made of sandals.

Sridevi is currently receiving medical treatment at Belagavi district hospital. The Bhataprabha police have registered a FIR against the individuals involved in this distressing incident.
