Belagavi: Bizarre but true, a picture of a newly laid road in Shedabala town in Belagavi has gone viral, leaving the netizens in splits.

The PWD contractor has laid the road around an electric pole and picture of the same is now all over the internet.

According to the Shedabala residents, recently, the state government sanctioned Shedabala – Konanakodi road widening works. This work was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.30 lakhs. While widening the road, the contractor carried out the asphalting works without shifting the electric pole.

According to the road widening contractor, electric pole shifting responsibility is not part of his works, while the authorities of the Shedabala town panchayat say that shifting works is the responsibility of the road contractor. As a result, the pole is in the middle of the road.

Meanwhile, locals feel that this is yet another evidence for how government agencies work. “Who is responsible for the ensuing dangers,” question locals.
