MLA Raju Kage and others granted bail in assault case

Belagavi: BJP MLA Bharamagouda (Raju) Kage and twelve others on Wednesday were granted bail by the Principal District and Sessions Court here in connection with an assault case on Congress worker Vivek Shetty.

Besides MLA Kage, twelve of his family members – his daughter Trupti, his brother’s wife Shobha Kage, Shankar Ammanna Wagmode, Mallagouda Appu Patil, Ravindra Bopal Navage, Sudarshan Annasab Nandani – were accused of assaulting Vivek Shetty at his house on January 1. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera and the accused were arrested from Maharashtra following a police complaint on January 8.

Judge R J Satish Singh granted the conditional bail against a surety of Rs 2 lakh bond each, A R Patil, advocate who represented the accused, said.

Prasanna Kage, another accused, had earlier got anticipatory bail. The bail petitions of all other accused are pending before the court.
