JD(U) busy holding meetings to strengthen party in North Karnataka

Hubballi: Eyeing on re-uniting the former Janata Parivar leaders who had left the parivar to join other parties for their whims, the JD (U) is holding a convention here on January 15.

People will teach a lesson to BJP, Congress: Kumaraswamy-1The party is taking its cue from JD (S) President H D Kumaraswamy who was trying hard to find a base in North Karnataka. Likewise, the JD (U) which has no base at all in North Karnataka is busy nowadays organising public meetings in the various districts to prepare for the Assembly elections next year.

Several intellectuals, artistes and litterateurs are expected to take part in the first meeting to be held in the city on January 15 by JD (U) State President Dr. M P Nadagouda said Shreeshailagouda Kamatar, the district president of the party. Kamatar hoped the party which is trying to garner support from other parties is hoping to attract disgruntled leaders of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and JD (S) into its fold.

The JD (U) party was missing among the electorate in North Karnataka after the stalwarts like late Ramakrishna Hegde, S R Bommai and J H Patel passed away. To revive the party, membership campaign would be held followed by several meetings in North Karnataka, while focusing on the region, he said.

Janata Dal (U) leader Mahima Patel among others who have already started strengthening the party at their home constituencies would participate. The party produced several leaders who they joined other parties but they don’t seem happy, he said adding that they could return to Janata Dal (U) before the next Assembly polls.
